Recognition from Her Majesty, The Queen for team member Kev Saunders

Kev Saunders, Hampshire Search & Rescue Dogs, has been awarded an MBE for services to Policing and Search and Rescue. A special constable and search and rescue dog handler, Kev has devoted thousands of hours to finding vulnerable, missing people.

During his 12 years as a search and rescue volunteer, Kev’s unstinting dedication, self-sacrifice and determination and his support and encouragement of lowland rescue volunteers has directly contributed to saving countless lives.

Over the last 10 years Kev has deployed with his search dog Zak to hundreds of Callouts in Hampshire. In a constant move to help neighbouring counties, search and rescue organisations and police forces, Kev also deploys with Zak outside of his county of Hampshire to Wiltshire, Dorset, Surrey, Sussex and Berkshire.

In his day job, Kev is an alarm engineer in full time employment. All his spare time is dedicated to search and rescue and helping the vulnerable in our communities.

Recognition from Her Majesty, The Queen to be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the New Year 2020 Honours List recognises Kev’s huge dedication to volunteering.

We could not be prouder. Well done Kev.
