Volunteer Dog Handler Conor Thorne cycles to Paris in aid of Hampshire Search & Rescue Dogs

Conor, one of our Search Dog Handlers, and his friends embarked on a cycling journey from their hometown Southampton to Paris. Their goal – to complete the trip within 24 hours. Although the weather was clear with a light breeze on this side of the channel, there were weather warnings in place whilst they crossed on the ferry. Despite this along with the lack of sleep, the team decided to proceed with their plan. They were met with heavy winds and rain as they cycled through France. The challenging weather persisted throughout the night and morning, and after a gruelling 28 hours of cycling, the team successfully arrived at the Eiffel Tower, completing their challenge.

Thanks to the huge generosity of supporters they have raised an amazing amount of money for Hampshire Search & Rescue Dogs helping raise money for an Incident Support Vehicle (IRV). The IRV will deploy to missing person searches transporting our amazing search dogs to help save lives and bring loved ones home.

A big thank you to Conor, Ryan, Ricky, John, Freddie and Steve who cycled. Thanks to Sash for checking in with the team along their journey and we would like to wish Reece a speedy recovery who was unfortunately unable to take part as planned.

There is still time to support them 👉 https://gofund.me/309d1a6c
